One of a group of negatives taken, but not used, for the October 25, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "A Sentimental Journey --- Back to Normandy," E1:1; October 27, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "Few War Signs Left on French Beaches," B1:2; October 28, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "Carentan Span a Monument to U.S. Engineers," B1:2; October 29, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "Omaha Beach: Cost of Conquest Was High," B1:2; and October 30, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "French Cemetery Honors Americans Who Died on Omaha," B1:2. This series of negatives includes his visits to Utah Beach where he photographed this monument that reads, "In proud memory of our dead, 1st engineer special brigade, H-Hour 0630, D Day 6 June 1944."
